The Dental Technical College (DTC) is designed to teach dental clinical processes and practices. Faculty in this program need to stay abreast on their continuing education for both professional and accreditation requirements.
Currently there is no required training that informs the faculty or employer about the continuing educational requirements and the expectations to maintain their accreditation. This creates confusion throughout the faculty on their knowledge of requirement and what to do in order to to fulfill, report, and track their continuing education and in compliance requirements. This project aims to help educate those within the faculty of what is required and how to keep track of their educational progress to ensure they stay on schedule and minimize the current confusion.
we will create a continuing education training that educates the faculty of the tracking and training tool that will allow the management and faculty to have access to their professional development requirements and compliance status. The facilitation of this training will help streamline the continuing education process to stay in compliance with effective communication processes. This will provide less pressure between faculty and management to keep track of the faculty requirements and have a full understanding of what is needed to stay in compliance within the academic year.
1. What are the needs of the staff?
2. What are the requirements of the different certifications?
3. How often do the requirements need to be completed in order to stay in compliance?
4. What is the best way to help faculty stay aware of what is needed to continue their education?
5. What is the best way of communicating to help everyone on staff stay up to date?
6. What is the best method of training that will be the most helpful for the faculty to understand the
educational expectations?
7. Who is the best to go to for questions regarding educational requirements?
8. How can we create a tracker that would help keep the faculty to stay up to date?
Internet Research:
Will be conducted to find information on the following questions:
■ What are the different educational requirements for dental assistants?
■ When are the deadlines for the requirements to continue education and stay in compliance?
■ What are the requirements needed for the certifications to stay active?
Subject Matter Expert:
Technical College (DTC) will be our person in the field that will conduct:
■ Contextual Interviews
■ Surveys
To provide insight on the pain point of the issue, we will survey instructors and management. Link to survey: Dental Technical College Survey
For Dental Technical College (DTC) certification project, we decided that creating the User Work Role Model, Artifact Model, and Social Model within our project would best fit the needs of the current challenges within the company. Through these models, we will identify the lack of organization of the central artifacts and the challenges it creates, ensure that our training informs the faculty and staff of the information needed to stay in certification compliance, and develop knowledge of a cohesive process through a single program that meets the needs of all staff members. Our goal is that as the organization goes through expansion, our solution will create a generalized system that will eliminate the current problems that have become apparent through our research.
